Starting his heritage in the largest city in India, Salman Rushdie was born in Bombay just after the ending of World War 2 in 1947. This in itself was a significant time and a time of limited prosperity for those who were still feeling the effects of the war from only a few years prior. Originally Rushdie spent his time at school in India however his parents migrated to England while Salman was still in school and this meant that he finished school in England. Salman had many jobs after his schooling such as reading history for the Cambridge University as well as working in the field of TV while living in Pakistan in the 1960s.
Grimus was the name of his first published novel that was released in the year 1975. Later Salman Rushdie would have an even bigger success for a novel called Midnight’s Children, which was published 6 years after the first novel. Two years later his next novel was released to the public, which was called Shame. Again this novel had a particular claim to fame however many think this was because Salman Rushdie was now an accomplished writer rather than the novel being very good. In 1989 one of his books got Salman into trouble with a religious group who threatened to kill him. He went into hiding in England under the protection of Scotland Yard and the English police force. Still today Salman writes novels that are not always politically correct however they are great reading material.
